This fall, The Roxy Theater is proud to bring you WORLD VIEW: CULTURES ON DISPLAY - four films which highlight and celebrate the unifying power of the visual arts around the world. Hosted by Global and Cultural Affairs in Arts Missoula, and presented free of charge.
Despite living a life of extreme poverty in Brooklyn, graffiti artist Jean-Michel Basquiat (Jeffrey Wright) strives to rise up through the heady New York art scene of the 1970s and 1980s. He becomes the brightest star of neo-Expressionist painting and one of the most successful painters of his time, and even develops a friendship with Andy Warhol (David Bowie). But Basquiat's tumultuous life, specifically his addiction to heroin, overshadows and threatens his rise to fame.
Presented in 35mm. Series sponsored by Lake Missoula Tea Company, US Bank, and Rideg Law.
