Los Angeles, 1969. Three people are struggling to make their way in the City of Angels: Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), a no-longer-young cowboy actor who fears his best shot at fame is behind him; Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt), Rick’s stunt double and devoted best friend, whose cool demeanor masks a very dark past; and Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie), a young actress taking small but assured steps toward fame and success. The lives and fates of these characters are destined to intersect on August 9, a harrowing night that could change all of America forever. Writer/director Quentin Tarantino’s ninth film is his most passionate film yet, an earnest tribute to the working stiffs behind our favorite fantasies and a vivid portrait of an iconic city in the throes of a massive cultural shift. The stellar cast includes Zoe Bell, Bruce Dern, Emile Hirsch, Damian Lewis, Mike Moh, Timothy Olyphant, Al Pacino, Luke Perry (in his final screen role), Margaret Qualley, Kurt Russell, and, in a breakout performance, 10-year-old Julia Butters. One of 2019's most anticipated films, presented here at the Castro on 35mm film, Tarantino's preferred format. (2019, 161 min, 35mm ‘Scope)
