The Grindhouse Film Festival presents an extremely rare 35mm print of the obscure blaxploitation film Brotherhood of Death. This film was a huge influence on Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained. This event is part of the Portland Black Film Festival.
Brotherhood of Death (1976) After fighting in the Vietnam War, a group of black men return to find their southern hometown ruled by the Ku Klux Klan. When the corrupt police refuse to act after a series of indecencies including a young woman being attacked, the men decide to take matters into their own hands. Using the skills they learned in the jungles of Vietnam, the ex-soldiers take on the racist rednecks. As the tagline states: “Watch these brothers stick it to the Klan!”
35mm blaxploitation trailers before the movie.
The Portland Black Film Festival is funded in part by the Regional Arts & Culture Council.
