DOCTOR SLEEP

Now an adult, Dan Torrance (Ewan MacGregor) remains haunted both by the ghosts of the Overlook Hotel and the more personal demons that afflicted his father. Dan finds new purpose as a healer and as a reluctant mentor to the young girl Abra whose gifts outshine his own, and he must spring into action to protect Abra from a malevolent, vampiric gang eager to consume her. Writer/director Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House) walks a fine line in this sequel, which honors both Stephen King's novel and Stanley Kubrick's notorious film adaptation, and delivers a conclusion to Dan's story that is equally chilling, thrilling, and deeply moving.
