Description

The overarching plot (or lack thereof) takes place over the course of one day, before and during a music festival. The story focuses on no particular protagonist but an influx of interconnected characters (musicians, wanderers, fanatics) from all walks of life having discussions about music, romance, and facing artistic and existential dilemmas.

"We’re making a film that speaks to our generation (the late 30-somethings). We are not quite Gen-X’ers, but we don’t want to be associated with millennials either; we are the in-between generation.

Like classic generational films such as Easy Rider, American Graffiti, or Dazed and Confused, we want this film to capture us: how society’s rules, expectations, and stereotypical goals in this day and age don’t really apply. We’re the alt-rock kids that grew up in a time before mass internet and had to adapt to it as we were coming of age.

The film conveys a certain level of angst and confusion when dealing with the topic of finding purpose and footing in one’s life. The conversations are real, based off various topics writers Mike Cuenca and Dan Rojay discussed with close friends as part of their research. The story features a huge cast of characters of various races, sexual orientation, and beliefs; grappling with nostalgia for their adolescence while waxing intellectually social issues & the difficulty of making a living as an artist.

I’LL BE AROUND is basically Nashville meets Slacker." -  Mike Cuenca
