Description

There's no such thing as too much of a good thing. Following two previous programs inspired by the Brinton Collection of early entertainment materials, Red Cedar's core ensemble (violinist Miera Kim and cellist Carey Bostian) once again teams up with its founding directors, Jan Boland and John Dowdall in a (nearly) all new program featuring chamber music paired with magic lantern slides and early films. The project that inspired the feature-length documentary Saving Brinton continues with new works by multiple composers and arrangers designed to present these treasures of early film in a modern context. We don't tire of telling Frank Brinton's story or that of his modern counterpart, Saving Brinton's subject and long-time Red Cedar collaborator, Michael Zahs.
