From the production company behind the Oscar-nominated On Body And Soul comes this tender, delicate story of the healing power of love in the midst of conflict, loss and unimaginable trauma.

In post-war Budapest, 16-year-old Holocaust survivor Klára still clings to the belief, against all evidence, that her parents will return. When she meets Aladár, a 42-year-old doctor who lost his wife and children in the death camps, she finds someone to live for, and she, in turn, brings newfound meaning to his life. But as the Communist Party and the Soviets take power in Hungary and a new kind of terror takes over, will they be able to continue their loving and pure father-daughter relationship? Commenting on the film’s world premiere in Telluride, The Wall Street Journal critic Joe Morgenstern noted “I do love it when, to cite the modest yet magical case of Those Who Remained, whole lives, including ours, can be changed in less than an hour and a half.” (Alissa Simon)
