Singin In The Rain: What A Glorious Feeling

It is considered, by many, to be one of the greatest film musicals ever made. The story about the bumpy transition from the silent to sound era is lovingly old in Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen’s 1952 MGM musical, Singin’ In The Rain. Produced by the legendary Arthur Freed, who asked screenwriters Adolph Green and Betty Comden to write a screenplay which would include the songs written by Freed, with Nacio Herb Brown. The rest, as they say, is delightful musical history. Long Island Librarian and Film Historian Philip Harwood will discuss the delightful backstory of Singin In the Rain in a recorded introduction. He will take you through the intersecting lives of Arthur Freed, Gene Kelly, Stanley Donen, Debbie Reynolds, and Donald O' Connor, Betty Comden and Adolph Green all contributed to this wonderful film, which is considered one of the greatest musicals ever made. You will be provided with a link to view the film online (a small rental fee is required). Then, on June 23rd, we will all come together for a post-film discussion. What a glorious feeling!

INSTRUCTIONS: Upon receiving your email order confirmation, you can view Phil's video introduction to the film, provided in a private Vimeo link available only to ticket-holders. You can then watch the film on your own time through your preferred rental/streaming service (where available) and then join Phil for the Zoom call discussion and Q&A on June 23rd at 8:00 PM with the provided invitation link.
