FilmScene’s week-long Virtual Animation Camp is a fun, flexible and engaging opportunity for your child to create their own animated stories, work with a team, and learn from our talented instructors. Please note the week of August 10 will be advanced camp curriculum and is available to returning campers only!

Sessions will be held exclusively online, through Zoom (link provided), 8:20am to 12pm daily. But that doesn’t mean four hours at the same screen—campers will have flexible time to learn and animate and check-in for assistance. Projects will be uploaded and work posted on Flipgrid, an easy to use platform for video viewing (link provided). Recommended for campers age 7 to 14.

Daily schedule:

8:20 - 8:30 - camp "arrival" in Zoom
8:30 - 8:45 - introductions, daily objectives
8:45 - 9:45 - project 1 (each project will include a short lesson, examples and demonstrations, and individual work time)
9:50 - 10:50 - project 2
10:55 - 11:55 - project 3
12:00 - 12:15 - directions for afternoon projects

Virtual Animation Camp will replicate techniques taught during in-person camp sessions, with 2D and 3D animation projects designed to use simple household items, with additional items provided by FilmScene. Each day will have a focus on different animation skills, and projects will be geared to reinforce the day’s focus. For campers desiring additional or more challenging projects, optional independent activities will be provided for campers to complete in the afternoon, and share the following day. Flipgrid will be used for campers to upload their work, comment on their fellow campers projects, and get feedback from our instructors. Campers will need access to an iPad, iPhone or smartphone, and the free app Stop Motion Pro.

FilmScene kits contain the following materials, and will be provided through contactless delivery by FilmScene team members the weekend prior to your camp. Campers are welcome from any community. If you aren't in driving distance, digital copies of camp activities will be provided to you, and your t-shirt will be mailed.
