Rodrigo Reyes Rodrigo Reyes - Director, Writer
Award-winning Mexican-American director, screenwriter, and producer Rodrigo Reyes has screened his films in over 50 film festivals around the world. Named one of the 25 New Faces of Independent Film by Filmmaker Magazine, he was the recipient of the 2016 National Endowment for the Arts Fellow at MacDowell Colony, the 2017 National Mediamaker Fellowship by the Bay Area Video Coalition (BAVC), the Spotlight on Storytellers Award from the Sundance Institute, as well as the Guggenheim Fellowship and Creative Capital Award. Rodrigo’s work has received the support of Tribeca Film Institute, Sundance Institute, California Humanities Council, Film Independent, IFP Narrative and Documentary Labs, the Berkeley Film Foundation, the Bay Area Video Coalition, the Mexican Film Institute, and ITVS Open Call.

Su Kim Su Kim - Producer of Lupe Under the Sun
Su Kim is a Korean American producer based in New York City. Currently, she is producing Bitterbrush with director Emelie Mahdavian, Free Chol Soo Lee with directors Eugene Yi and Julie Ha, One Bullet Afghanistan with director Carol Dysinger. Her film, Midnight Traveler, with director Hassan Fazili and producer Emelie Mahdavian, earned a 2019 Peabody Award, Emmy® for Outstanding Current Affairs Documentary, and the Sundance World Cinema Documentary Special Jury Award. Her film, Hale County This Morning, This Evening with director RaMell Ross and producer Joslyn Barnes premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature and Primetime Emmy® for Exceptional Merit in Documentary Filmmaking. She has received numerous grants including from ITVS, Sundance Documentary Fund, NYSCA, California Humanities Council and Tribeca Film Institute, and was a 2015 Women at Sundance Fellow. She is serving as producer for Sanson and Me, Rodrigo Reyes’ latest project.

Andrew Houchens Andrew Houchens - Producer of Abuelos
Andrew Houchens is a documentary producer and director based in Mexico City. He also forms part of the team of the Berlinale’s European Film Market and is a consultant for the Guadalajara Film Festival. He has collaborated with various top festivals and markets in Latin America, previously oversaw Tribeca’s TFI Network Co-Production Market, and worked for IFP (Independent Filmmaker Project) in New York for several years, producing the Gotham Awards. As producer, Andrew’s films have premiered in competition at SXSW, Tribeca, Hot Docs, and IDFA and have been acquired by Criterion Collection and Netflix. His award-winning 2019 directorial debut Juan of the Witches premiered at Guadalajara and was acquired by PBS. Andrew has been a jury member for Outfest LA and a programming consultant for Nantucket Film Festival. He is a Sundance Creative Producing Fellow and member of the Documentary Producers Alliance.

Tamara Falicov Tamara Falicov - Associate Dean for Research in the Arts and Humanities, Professor, Film and Media Studies, Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, University of Kansas
Tamara Falicov is a Professor in the Department of Film and Media Studies at the University of Kansas and the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies. She is an Associate Dean for Research in the Arts and Humanities in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Falicov is the recipient of a Fulbright scholarship to Argentina, the result of which is the book The Cinematic Tango: Contemporary Argentine Film (London: Wallflower Press/Columbia University Press, 2007) selected as a CHOICE Outstanding Academic Title, 2008. Last year she published Latin American film industries (British Film Institute/Bloomsbury). Falicov has given workshops on the politics of film funding aimed at emerging filmmakers in Colombia, Honduras, Panama and Guatemala. In 2018 she was a Fulbright Specialist to Lisbon, Portugal. She co-taught a course on Latin American immigration in fiction and film, the result of which was a short student-made documentary called “Voices from our Neighbors: Immigrant Journeys to Lawrence.

Gerardo Guerrero Gerardo Guerrero - Consul of Mexico in St. Paul, MN
Gerardo Guerrero is the 4th Consul of Mexico in St. Paul. He has worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1987 and joined the Diplomatic Corps in 1997. Consul Guerrero has served as attorney in different legal offices within the Ministry, as well as at the Consulate in New York. He became Deputy Legal Counsel of the Ministry in 2012. He studied Law School at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, received a Master degree on international trade legal aspects at ITAM and an LLM on US Law from the University of Houston. He has taught at Universidad Iberoamericana and at the Escuela Libre de Derecho in Mexico City.

Lupe Under the Sun is a neorealist film following an aging migrant worker living in California, who longs to return to Mexico before it is too late. Featuring a cast of nonprofessional actors, real farmworkers and authentic locations, Lupe Under the Sun tackles issues of depression, homesickness and the immigrant myth of the American Dream.
