Description

"Like an evocative short story, Clementine distills its themes." —Variety

"The prismatic narrative from writer/director Lara Gallagher splinters the lines between wishes, dreams, lies and manipulation." —RogerEbert.com

"Gallagher is a talented director who coaxes great work from her collaborators and knows how to use rhythm and suggestion to sustain a mood." —Minneapolis Star Tribute

In this moody and mysterious feature, a scenic lake house becomes a sanctuary for two young women. Karen (Otmara Marrero) is just out of a long-term relationship and needing a place to stay, so she sneaks into her ex's summer home. There she meets the precocious Lana (Sydney Sweeney), whose bold charisma is a welcome distraction. Both Karen and Lana are emotionally guarded, but their cautious flirtation gives them both a sense of validation.

Clementine is presented as part of Bijou's Film Forum series. A discussion will follow the ending credits of the screening. Bijou events are free for University of Iowa students. Contact Bijou on social media or via email to obtain your free code!
