How to Watch

Your ticket includes a recorded Q&A with Director Carine Bijlsma and legendary tour manager Alan Leeds, following the film.

Devil’s Pie—D’Angelo follows Grammy Award-winning singer D’Angelo, one of the most successful R&B acts in recent years, but whose struggle with numerous demons--not to mention a public eager to sexualize and hound him--made him walk away from the business for 14 long years.

This revealing cinematic portrait stitches together never-before-seen live footage along with unguarded interviews with the man, his friends, and colleagues past and present, that illuminate a struggling artist at once vulnerable and thoroughly committed to his music. “Thank documentarian Carine Bijlsma for the candid glimpse at a musical innovator who should be called a genius.” --Dwight Brown, National Newspaper Publishers Association
