Description

The tale of two brothers - one born of royal blood, one an orphan with a secret past - is told in this epic adventure. As one becomes the ruler of a powerful empire and the other the chosen leader of his people, their final confrontation will forever change the world. The Prince of Egypt is storytelling of the finest kind, an animated successor to Biblical epics such as Ben-Hur and The Ten Commandments - but done entirely with stellar animation. In fact, it was the first traditionally animated film from DreamWorks and led to a brief stint that also saw the production of The Road to El Dorado and Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. Both a box office and critical success, the film is fondly remembered not only for the beautifully rendered vistas of the Egyptian desert but also strong performances from a voice cast that included Val Kilmer, Ralph Fiennes, Sandra Bullock, Patrick Stewart, and Helen Mirren and an equally epic score by Hans Zimmer and Stephen Schwartz. Notably, Brave director Brenda Chapman became the first woman to direct an animated feature from a major studio with The Prince of Egypt. Recommended for ages 8+
