Description

Virtual class held every Tuesday in October!

The culture and turmoil of the 1970s made the decade a thriving time for cinema. While films like THE EXORCIST, CARRIE, and HALLOWEEN killed at the box office, the international films of the era are lesser known to American audiences.

From British Hammer films to Italian Giallo to Australian Ozploitation, this course will provide a deep dive into international horror films released in the ‘70s—cult films that would go on to inspire American classics.

This virtual class consists of a weekly, instructor-led discussion on Zoom. You will need to find and watch the movies on your own, and then we will discuss them together as a group with our instructor, Kia Geraths. Kia will also provide history and context about these films and genres. Classes will be held Tuesdays in October at 7pm. Tuition is $40 for the four-week course; $32 for members. Participation will be limited to 15.

Schedule:

10/5: HATCHET FOR THE HONEYMOON
10/12: DRACULA AD 1972
10/19: HAUSU
10/26: PATRICK (1978)

All titles are available to rent at Movie Madness, or to stream for under $5 on major streaming services. Email education@moviemadness.org with questions.
