Safely hidden away on their sprawling estate in the middle of a Lima suburb, bougie middle-aged frenemies Alicia (Grapa Paola) and Carmen (Gracia Olayo) have definite opinions about how the lower classes should comport themselves—especially the protesters marching just outside the estate’s walls. With their two compounds connected by a mysterious, dusty storage room known as “the little house,” theirs is a lifestyle of ease largely supported by their dutiful housekeepers, sisters Luzmila (Tatiana Astengo) and Peta (Gabriela Velásquez). When Alicia’s birthday rolls around, both families assemble, including Carmen’s sons Mariano (Marco Zunino) and his catty boyfriend, “The Peacock;” and Alvaro (Giovanni Ciccia), with everyone most eager for the return of Alicia’s formerly-gay son Andres (César Ritter) and his new girlfriend Merche (Jely Reategui). But when certain family and staff catch sight of Merche, especially the long-suffering Luzmila, they know that a long-buried secret is about to go off in spectacular fashion. As the families sit down for dinner and a protest rages outside, secrets hidden for three decades explode out into the open, shaking two families to their foundations just as the messiness of real life spills into their safe little world in this uproarious, stinging satire from writer/director Javier Fuentes León.

Director Biography
After graduating from medical school in Peru, Javier Fuentes-León studied film directing at CalArts in Los Angeles. His thesis film ESPACIOS (Rooms) won the Peruvian National Award from Short Films in 1997. His first feature CONTRACORRIENTE (Undertow) premiered in San Sebastian in 2009 and won more than 50 international awards, including the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival in 2010. The film was nominated for the Goyas and represented Peru in the 2011 Oscars. His second feature EL ELEFANTE DESAPARECIDO (The Vanished Elephant) premiered in the Toronto Film Festival in 2014 and traveled through many festivals. Fuentes-León was the lead director, co-writer and executive producer of the first season of DISTRITO SALVAJE (Wild District), shot in Colombia for Netflix. He is currently the head writer for Netflix’s first TV series production in Peru, based on the anti-doping case of Peruvian soccer star Paolo Guerrero.
