"A classy, witty Icelandic horror fable starring a surprisingly cute hybrid offspring."Jessica Kiang, The Playlist

"An arrestingly beautiful experience...a highly original take on the anxieties of being a parent, a tale in which nature plus nurture yields a nightmare."—David Rooney, The Hollywood Reporter

"A supernatural knockout, simple yet strikingly conceived, hitting you out of nowhere."—Zhuo-Ning Su, Awards Daily

In the isolated depths of rural Iceland, a childless couple, Maria and Ingvar, make an alarming discovery one day in their sheep barn: a newborn unlike anything they've seen before. They decide to raise the girl, Ada, as their own, but sinister forces — including one very pissed-off ewe — seem determined to return Ada to the wilderness that birthed her. The masterful and terrifying debut feature from director Valdimar Jóhannsson excavates primal fears—of parenting, loss, and the vast and merciless wild—in a dark and unnatural tale for the ages. This eerie folk-horror film is peppered with the signature cold Icelandic wit mixed with the sobering austerity of it's executive producer Béla Tarr (Satantango).

All screenings will be preceded by “Kitchen Memory” the second episode of The Lava Log, a visual album that consists of 9 animated videos assembled from digital recreations of stock images, the depths of Google image search, and 00's nostalgia, set to ambient soundscapes created using obsolete iPhone apps, field recordings of malfunctioning tech, and other internet ephemera.  A collaboration between animator Kieran O'Hare (Joe Pera Talks You To Sleep), musician Sean Yeaton (Parquet Courts), and sound designer/composer Ryan Dann (Joe Pera Talks with You)
