"Weaves a spell as powerful as it is entertaining."—Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

Writer, director, producer and star Charles Lane's lovely debut is an homage to Charlie Chaplin's The Kid and is just as whimsical and magical as that classic. Cited by Michel Hazanavicius as a key inspiration for his Oscar winning film The Artist, this late 80s silent gem tells the story of a young artist living in the squalor of New York, on the fringes of the financial district and its rushing crowds. One night, on the corner of a back alley, he discovers a little girl whose father has just been murdered. Though living on meager means himself, the artist takes in the girl and cares for her, and soon meets a young rich woman who falls in love with the awkward pair.
