About After Antarctica

In a dramatic attempt to bring awareness to the changing continent, an international expedition led by renowned explorer Will Steger embarked on the first-ever coast-to-coast expedition across Antarctica in 1989. Six explorers and their sled dogs braved howling storms, sub-zero temperatures, snow crevasses, and other perils as they traversed the icy terrain. Now, thirty years since his groundbreaking expedition, Steger heads out on the ice once again - this time to the opposite end of the planet. Deftly weaving his contemporary journey with rare, dynamic footage of his original treacherous seven-month odyssey, After Antarctica is an urgent message spanning both poles.

The Great Northern - January 27-February 6, 2022

As people of the North, we’re a hardy bunch. We don’t just passively endure what our winters dish out; we rally, we play, we explore, we reflect, we relish in all the opportunities our cold season offers. Not surprisingly then, we are some of the bravest, most intrepid individuals around. And, as a community, that makes us something special. The inspiring stories and people within the films presented at The Great Northern 2022 celebrate perseverance, common purpose, and building a legacy for a healthier, more inclusive future. Presented by MSP Film and The Great Northern.
