Description

Katia and Maurice Krafft were renowned French volcanologists whose admiration for the world’s most dangerous hot spots was eclipsed only by their love for one another. Director Sara Dosa’s visually and emotionally stunning documentary is at once a love story and a thrilling adventure.

Inseparable for over twenty years, Katia and Maurice flew around the world throughout the 70s and 80s studying active volcanoes, making important scientific breakthroughs and enthralling the public with stories of their discoveries. Relying on the lush photos and films captured by Katia, Maurice and others, filmmaker Sara Dosa has assembled a spectacular array of gorgeous vistas, volcanic explosions and rivers of bubbling lava. Always itching to chase the next eruption, and often the first to arrive on the scene, Katia and Maurice’s enduring legacy includes their boundless enthusiasm for the mysteries of the natural world and an intense desire to share their insights about these beautiful — and potentially deadly — volcanic wonders with the wider world.
