It’s the time of year when a clever humanist comedy goes over really well and we have a new one for you from busy producer Adar Shafran, the production exec responsible for Maktub (MSPIFF 2018). Widower Dov (the wonderful Shlomo Bar-Abba) moves into a nursing home but he can’t stand it. He dreams of buying back his old house and returning to live there, but he has no money since losing his post office pension and he blames the State. When he realizes that everyone in the nursing home uses state-sponsored medical marijuana, he hatches an inspired plan. Weed will be his salvation – selling it, not smoking it. He will become a cannabis entrepreneur. But when love, the police and the local mafia enter the picture, Dov finds himself at a crossroads where he has to decide whether he would be willing to risk everything for what really matters to him.
