Shy, unassuming Manuel (Martín Miller) and his lifelong best friend Felipe (Teo Inama Chiabrando) are exactly like any other middle-class Argentinian teens--playing in a rock band, teasing one another with endless games of “would you rather?” while hanging at the beach or their secret forest hideaway, and boasting of their dubious sexual experiences. When Manu nervously sets out to have his first real sexual encounter with girlfriend Azul (Azul Mazzeo), he finds himself faltering in the moment, his mind and heart fixated on the one true love of his young life: Felipe. As Manu’s secret feelings quietly smolder and he finds himself increasingly tortured watching the object of his desire move from girlfriend to girlfriend, the young musician’s homelife likewise falls deeper into crisis: mom and dad are barely speaking, each wrapped up in their own life, a family of strangers under the same roof. Yet as he grows increasingly short with loved ones and falls further out of sorts with the world around him, Manu’s quiet truth slowly begins to emerge through songwriting, pushing him into surprising new creative directions and at long last uncovering his long-buried truth in this raw, sensitive debut feature from writer/director Mariano Biasin.
Manuel (Martín Miller), un chico tímido y sencillo, junto con su mejor amigo Felipe (Teo Inama Chiabrando), son como el resto de los adolescentes de clase media argentina: tocan en una banda de rock, bromean entre ellos y juegan sesiones interminables de ¿Qué prefieres ser?, mientras pasan el rato en la playa o en su escondite secreto en el bosque, jactándose de sus cuestionables experiencias sexuales. Cuando Manu se prepara, hecho un mar de nervios, para su primer encuentro sexual verdadero con su novia Azul (Azul Mazzeo), vacila cuando llega el momento, ya que su mente y su corazón están centrados en el único amor que ha tenido a su corta edad: Felipe. Mientras Manu vive consumido en secreto por sus sentimientos y se tortura al ver que el objeto de su deseo va de novia en novia, la vida en el hogar del joven músico se derrumba: sus padres apenas se dirigen la palabra, cada uno sumido en su propia vida, como una familia de extraños bajo el mismo techo. Mientras Manu se aísla cada vez más de sus seres queridos y se siente cada vez más ajeno al mundo que lo rodea, su realidad emerge poco a poco a través de sus canciones, lo que lo empuja hacia una nueva y sorprendente dirección creativa que por fin revela su verdad más íntima, en este debut emotivo y honesto que nos presenta el guionista y director Mariano Biasin.
