Sincerely, Black Women is a 2022 short documentary film. The film was thought of, filmed, edited, and distributed within the span of two weeks, with the three creators meeting for the first time in that same two week span, through the Speak MPLS Summer Youth Media Program, RYSE MPLS. The film tackles the perspectives of black women in the Twin Cities in their respective professions by asking one question: “What does being a black woman mean to you?” Stories of trailblazing politicians including Zaynab Mohamed and Clare Verbeten, artists, authors, journalists like Kare 11’s Kiya Edwards, and more are told, showcasing what is it like to be a black women in this day and age.
