What started as a small, informal group became the coalition Longfellow Rising, of which Pangea World Theater is a proud member. Longfellow Rising’s purpose is to rebuild Downtown Longfellow with a focus on BIPOC ownership, strengthened social fabric infrastructure, and re-designed buildings that facilitate community gathering and belonging for all. With our fellow Longfellow Rising member, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, we co-commissioned The Transition Stage, a community-engaged public art installation created by Angela Two Stars. Through this piece, we invited Longfellow residents to share their laments, their hopes and their reflections for a just future. We received contributions from over 500 community members!
