Take a trip through time with exquisite animation from French director Michel Ocelot (Kirikou and the Sorceress, Dilili in Paris). Three magical tales celebrate courage and freedom: in Sudan, a young nobleman sets off to Ancient Egypt to prove himself eligible for the woman he loves. In Medieval France, a boy is sentenced to death by his father, the King, for freeing a prisoner. He escapes to grow up wild in the forest, stealing from the rich to help the poor. In 18th-century Turkey, a young beignet-maker does all he can to meet the Rose Princess, trapped in the heart of the royal palace. Audiences will be transported by the power of young love and ingenuity as well as Ocelot’s memorable use of color and exquisite detail in his illuminating animation. The tales’ captivating storyteller is voiced by the Senegal-born French actress, director, writer, producer, and activist, Aïssa Maïga. –Deb Girdwood
