In the bitter winter of 1931, in the small farming community of Schafer, North Dakota, an entire family vanished, mother, father, and four children. The investigation immediately focuses on Charles Bannon, a 22-year-old farmhand, and a man who seems particularly vicious. But the community is impatient for a particular bloodthirsty justice, and events soon spiral out of control. Filmmaker Charlie Griak’s cinematic portrait of murder in the heartland is based on the true story of the infamous Charles Bannon case of 1931.
