On April 9th, 1940 the Nazis invaded Norway. Based on true events, Gold Run tells the story of how a brigade of ragtag Norwegians, including a bank secretary, a famous poet and a female veteran of the Spanish Civil War, smuggled 40 tons of gold bullion out of the national bank vault in Oslo to safety with the Allies.
Fredrik is a family man and a bank secretary, and isn’t the type to volunteer to fight in World War II, but when the Nazis invade Norway, the King gives him an enormous task–get the country’s gold reserves north, to Lillehammer, away from the German invaders. With the invasion landing during one of his children’s birthday parties, Fredrik works to make everyone feel safe, but inside he’s terrified. In a matter of hours, he and the team of resistance fighters must execute one of the most stunning missions in Norwegian history.
