NEW 4K RESTORATION!
Our annual January misery screening!
40th anniversary screening of the finest film available to humanity!
In what is now an annual tradition at the Revue, feel better about the post-holiday blahs by watching the only thing more desolate than winter in Toronto: Withnail and I, in its recent 4K restoration. With a special introduction by series host Nathalie Atkinson.
Struggling with poverty and cold, friends Withnail and Marwood hope to escape the squalor of their London flat with a getaway to Uncle Monty’s Lake District cottage. The inhospitable and bone-chilling English damp follows them, naturally, on holiday. Bruce Robinson’s blackly comic masterpiece is a rueful coda to friendship and 1960s idealism–-hilarious, poignant and almost unbearably melancholy. (NATHALIE ATKINSON)
