Description

On February 7th at 6:45pm, The Black Nerds bring you a special screening of the timeless classic, "Love & Basketball," at the Revue Cinema.

February is a month of Love, Black History and NBA All-Star weekend. What better way to celebrate this combination than enjoy a film that transcends the boundaries of the court and delves into the heart of love? Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, this film is not just about sports; it's a celebration of love in all its forms.

Monica (Sanaa Lathan) and Quincy (Omar Epps) are two childhood friends who both aspire to be professional basketball players. Over the years, the two begin to fall for each other, but their separate paths to basketball stardom threaten to pull them apart.

In honour of bell hooks, (renowned cultural critic and author of best seller, All About Love: New Visions), The Black Nerds invite you to explore the intersections of self-love, open communication, commitment, and the power of community within the context of this cinematic gem. Monica Wright and Quincy McCall's enthralling journey, both on and off the basketball court, serves as a narrative canvas that beautifully aligns with the profound themes of love as envisioned by bell hooks.
