Set in and around the real life "Gilley's" club, Travolta is Bud Davis, an oil refinery worker by day and a mechanical bull hero by night who falls in love with the young and naive Sissy (Debra Winger). As his misplaced machismo gets the better of him, so does the presence of a new bad-boy stud in town—Scott Glenn as Wes, sporting an unbelievably sexy mesh t-shirt. Explosive emotions on and off the bucking machine force Bud to reckon with his toxic qualities, while Debra Winger delivers a performance brimming with compassion and vulnerability worthy of 1000 performances.
