This gorgeous, boldly painted animated feature is a delightful slapstick comedy about Paulette, a frazzled French mother, and her plucky 8-year-old daughter, Linda. The story begins with an expressive battle of mother-daughter wills that soon spirals out of control. Discovering she has unfairly misjudged Linda, Paulette asks what she can do to make it up to her. Linda requests chicken with peppers, the dinner her late father used to make. Fulfilling her daughter’s deceptively simple demand turns out to be not so easy when a general strike closes all the stores. Linda and Paulette’s valiant efforts to get a chicken for the stew set in motion a series of outrageous events that eventually involve the entire town in their madcap quest.
