Description

The films are hot, but the Revue’s AC will be cranked for the ten films in this summer’s Heat Wave lineup.

Heat Wave at the Revue Cinema, a lineup of the greatest summer movies ever made, kicks off on the first night of summer with the horror film TOURIST TRAP with an introduction by Nightmare Alley curator, STEVEN LANDRY!

45th Anniversary Screening!

EVERY YEAR YOUNG PEOPLE DISAPPEAR.

After their car breaks down, a group of young travellers find themselves stranded at a roadside museum run by the mysterious Mr. Slausen and populated by his collection of supernatural mannequins.

Who among us has not fled the city during a heat wave, enjoyed a skinny-dip in a random pond, and encountered a roadside attraction full of creepy-ass mannequins?? TOURIST TRAP wasn't a hot commodity at the time of its release or for many years after, despite following the killer success of John Carpenter's HALLOWEEN and preceding the original FRIDAY THE 13TH. Unlike these other proto-slashers TOURIST TRAP is all-together weirder and eventually more melancholic, giving us a villain who is more than a mask and an urge to kill. Filled with atmospheric set-pieces and a persuasive dream logic, TOURIST TRAP is a summer getaway you won't want to miss. (STEVEN LANDRY)
