Extraordinary Women: Actor Olympia Dukakis
Documentary and discussion
Sunday, June 23, noon-2:00 pm

You saw her in Moonstruck, you saw her in Away from Her, and if you were lucky, you may have seen her on the stage. Join us for a screening of the documentary Olympia, the Greek American actor who broke free from the patriarchal environment and ethnic discrimination of her childhood to build an impressive resume that includes more than 60 films, 50 TV series and 130 stage productions. Winner of an Academy Award, Golden Globe and Obie, she also founded a theatre company with her husband and taught acting at NYU. Down-to-earth, open and with a penchant for swearing, she was on a life-long quest to understand herself and humanity. She found some answers — in Greek myth. You’ll get a real sense of who she was through this documentary — and might just get inspired!

Director, producer and writer Harry Mavromichalis will join us for a Zoom interview from New York.

Tickets: Suggested donation of $15 on Eventbrite or at the door.
