The year is 10,191, and the most precious substance in the
universe is the spice Melange, which extends life, expands consciousness, and
makes interstellar travel possible. The spice can only be found on one planet:
the desert world Arrakis, also known as Dune. When young Paul Atreides (Kyle MacLachlan) and his family are
sent to govern Arrakis, they are betrayed and attacked by the ruthless Baron
Harkonnen. Left for dead in the desert, Paul joins the native Fremen, discovers
his destiny, and leads a rebellion to control the spice and fulfill an ancient
prophecy. David Lynch’s long-awaited
film version of Frank Herbert’s science
fiction epic features an all-star cast, including Jose Ferrer, Max Von Sydow,
Oscar winner Linda Hunt and rock
legend, Sting. (USA, 1984, 137 mins, PG-13, English | Dir. David Lynch)
