$18 Public | $11 Members
Join us for a double feature, and thematic discussion of two films, made
seventy years apart, exploring trans identity on screen. From Ed Wood’s
groundbreaking 1950s vision to a contemporary story of resilience in the
digital age.
GLEN OR GLENDA
An iconic piece of LGBT film history, Ed Wood’s directorial debut is an astonishingly
sympathetic look at crossing dressing in the early 1950s. Thoughtful and
surreal, Glen or Glenda utilizes a unique narrative style to relay the dual
stories of a crossdresser, Glen, and Alan, an intersex person preparing to
undergo reassignment surgery. (USA, 1953,
65 mins, PG, English | Dir. Ed Wood)
BREAK THE GAME
Released 70 years later, Break the Game follows
world-record-holding gamer Narcissa Wright, who loses her massive fanbase after
coming out as trans. To win them back, she sets out to break a new record in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
(USA, 2023, 73 mins, English | Dir. Jane
Wagner)
