IT WAS JUST AN
ACCIDENT
Winner of the Palme
d’Or at Cannes Film Festival, the first film from Iranian auteur Jafar Panahi following his most recent
prison sentence, explores the dilemma faced by a group of former prisoners when
they encounter the man who they believe tortured them in prison years ago. When
a traveler with a distinctively squeaky prosthetic leg arrives at his repair,
Vahid is convinced that it’s the officer who terrorized him. Seizing the
opportunity for revenge, Vahid abducts the man, planning to kill him. Halted
by his conscience, he sets off on an odyssey to find other victims who can
verify the man’s identity. (Iran,
