SOUND OF FALLING
Winner of
the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, Sound of Falling
is a haunting, multigenerational drama from director Mascha Schilinski. Set in a rural farmhouse in northern Germany,
the film spans a turbulent century, following four adolescent girls—Alma, Erika,
Angelika, and Lenka—who each come of age in the same home decades apart. Though
separated by time, their lives begin to mirror one another as fragments of
desire, trauma, and memory reverberate through the house’s walls. Moving
fluidly across eras shaped by war, division, and cultural change, Schilinski’s
enveloping second feature is a powerful meditation on the lingering presence of
the past. (Germany, 2025, 155 mins,
