What do Hallmark Christmas movies, a gum-removal crew, a 3,100-mile footrace and a leaky basement in Queens have in common?
According to John Wilson, the answer is right under your feet.Fresh off the finale of his cult HBO series How To with John Wilson, New York's most curious cameraman sets out to make the definitive documentary about concrete, the world's most widely used building material. To give it mass appeal, he borrows the formula from a Hallmark movie workshop. What could possibly go wrong? Plenty, and every crack in the plan leads somewhere stranger than the last.Laugh-out-loud funny, deeply weird and unexpectedly moving, The History of Concrete starts with cracked sidewalks and ends up somewhere much deeper. Come for the deadpan detours. Leave looking at the ground beneath your feet a little differently.
