Set between the two World Wars and based on true historical events, Bitter Harvest conveys the untold story of the Holodomor, the genocidal famine engineered by the tyrant Joseph Stalin. The film displays a powerful tale of love, honour, rebellion and survival at a time when Ukraine was forced to adjust to the horrifying territorial ambitions of the burgeoning Soviet Union.

This year, 2023 marks the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor (death by hunger, in Ukrainian). Holodomor refers to the starvation of millions of Ukrainians in 1932-33 as a result of Soviet policies.

The Westdale, in collaboration with the UKRAINIAN CANADIAN CONGRESS Hamilton, present 'Bitter Harvest'. The film is based on true historical events and conveys the untold story of the Holodomor, the genocidal famine engineered by Joseph Stalin.

Bitter Harvest is a tale of love, honour, rebellion and survival at a time when Stalin and his Bolshevik Red Army advances the territorial ambitions of the Communist Party, causing the death by starvation of millions of Ukrainians.

WE REMEMBER the sacrifice of Ukrainians who died during the Holodomor, and the sacrifice of Ukrainians who have lost their lives because of ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine.
