Project Website

20 years in the making, My Rock n Roll Fantasy is a film about suicide and an act of love and remembrance from the friend that survived to tell the tale. The film uses experimental video, film, and animation to portray the stories a teenaged runaway named Molly16 told in her zines. Interviews with musicians and outsiders from the early 90s Riot Grrl scene reflect on the feminist rhetoric of the day and the intersection of traumatic experiences and art that Molly16’s legacy brings to the forefront. Above all, this film examines a life taken too soon, the realities children face when leaving an abusive home and what it means to choose to live.
